Community Action changes people's lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.

Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency is one of more than over 1,000 Community Action Agencies in the United States. Organized in 1968 and incorporated in 1969, as part of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America's War on Poverty, Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency utilizes all resources available to help others to become self-sufficient.

Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency currently has two offices, one located at 129 Pine Street in Pineville, KY, and the other on U.S. 25W in Williamsburg, KY. Peggy S. Capps, our current Executive Director, has served in her present position since August 1995.

Some of the many services provided by the Bell-Whitley Community Action Agency are Head Start/Early Head Start, Weatherization, Housing Initiatives, P.R.I.D.E., and Winter Care, to name a few. Bell-Whitley CAA is also the designated comprehensive One-Stop for Bell County. This designation allows area residents the opportunity to access several different aspects of education and employment opportunities in one facility. Some of the participating agencies include Department of Employment Services, Southeast Community College, Adult Literacy Program, Vocational Rehabilitation, and the Job Corps.

At Bell-Whitley CAA we believe there are untapped resources in our community, that each person has something to give to the community, and that by working together we can replace poverty with opportunity and despair with hope.
